Health & Safety Manager – Major Infrastructure Project
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a team delivering a new substation construction project in Suffolk. This project is part of a larger initiative supporting offshore wind energy, contributing to the UK's transition to renewable energy and net-zero targets.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Project Director, the Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining a strong safety culture, focusing on accident prevention and compliance with health & safety regulations. The project includes earthworks, road and junction construction, reinforced concrete structures, and steel-framed superstructures to facilitate the integration of renewable energy into the National Grid.
Key Responsibilities:
* Implement and uphold health & safety standards in line with industry regulations and best practices.
* Conduct site audits and proactively address any safety concerns.
* Oversee site induction processes, ensuring all personnel receive up-to-date safety briefings.
* Lead investigations into accidents and incidents, sharing lessons learned to improve safety measures.
* Develop and maintain a construction phase health & safety plan, ensuring it evolves with the project.
* Introduce initiatives to enhance safety performance and drive continuous improvement.
* Engage with subcontractors and supply chain partners to promote best practices in health & safety.
* Contribute to pre-qualification and tendering processes where required.
* Facilitate collaboration on health & safety matters, resolving challenges effectively.
* Coordinate and monitor weekly site inspections, involving operational teams and senior management.
Requirements:
* Experience as a Health & Safety Manager on major infrastructure or construction projects.
* A diploma level H&S qualification or equivalent.
