About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and organized Assistant Construction Project Manager to join our team, supporting the delivery of high-profile data centre construction projects in London. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically advanced and large-scale projects while developing your career in construction project management.
As an Assistant Construction Project Manager, you will play a key role in assisting with the coordination, management, and delivery of projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with senior project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Coordination:
1. Assist in the day-to-day management of construction activities across data centre projects.
2. Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure all tasks are completed according to project plans and schedules.
3. Help manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring milestones are met.
2. Site Management:
1. Support site inspections and monitor the progress of construction work.
2. Assist in managing health and safety requirements and ensuring compliance with regulations on-site.
3. Collaborate with site managers to resolve on-site issues and ensure smooth operations.
3. Documentation and Reporting:
1. Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, change orders, and meeting minutes.
2. Help prepare and update project schedules and reports for clients and internal stakeholders.
3. Assist in tracking project costs, helping to identify and mitigate cost overruns.
4. Procurement and Subcontractor Management:
1. Assist in the procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
2. Support the management of subcontractor performance, ensuring quality, timely delivery, and adherence to contractual obligations.
5. Quality Control and Compliance:
1. Monitor construction quality to ensure work meets the project specifications and standards.
2. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
6. Stakeholder Engagement:
1. Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
2. Assist the project manager in resolving any client or stakeholder issues as they arise.
Required Qualifications and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
2. 1-3 years of experience in construction project management, preferably in data centres, commercial, or large-scale construction projects.
3. Familiarity with construction contracts, including NEC and JCT.
4. Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
5. Understanding of construction processes, project scheduling, and cost management.
