Purpose of Role
We’re recruiting for an experienced Caretaker to join our maintenance team dedicated to servicing Alvaston Moor Academy in Derby.
Job Description
The Caretaker will be responsible for maintaining the educational facilities and wider academy with wide-ranging duties including cleaning and repair work. The successful candidate will have previous experience of caretaking or site management and ideally worked in a similar educational facility as part of a facilities team. You will be encouraged to be flexible and resourceful in your approach to the tasks at hand, while delivering great customer service to the wide range of people you will meet each day. This is an active and varied role as part of a larger team across the campus, and every day will be different.
Responsibilities
1. Maintaining academy safety and security precautions
2. PPM and maintenance repairs (e.g., fire alarm/emergency lighting tests, temperature checks, minor plumbing, door/floor/ceiling maintenance, etc.)
3. Regular site walks, risk assessments, and HSE audits
4. Removing refuse bags, litter picking, and cleaning of communal internal/external areas
5. Supporting with movement of furniture, supplies, deliveries when necessary
6. Maintain safe conditions and safe working practices within all the facilities.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
1. Previous caretaking experience
2. Physically fit
3. Relish the opportunity to work in a student environment and deal with the issues that brings
4. Health and Safety awareness & knowledge of COSHH
5. IT literacy skills and the ability to use mobile/hand-held device for emails
