Vacancy for Digital Archivist at a London Based Art Gallery

Context
A leading London gallery in the field of Antiques and Fine Art is requesting a bright archivist to grow, improve and maintain their documentation and research database. The candidate will work in a largely self-directed capacity, with opportunities for growth and advancement based on performance and database development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Developing: Develop a deep understanding of the database, its usage, strengths, and limitations.
2. Understand the documentary materials available for acquisition and future indexing, and identify sourcing methods.
3. Ongoing: Organise the acquisition of new research materials while adhering to acquisition budgets.
4. Digitise paper collections.
5. Index and correct data related to documentation type, dates, and object titles.
6. Create glossaries to aid usability and accuracy.
7. Propose new solutions for software development.
8. Share in the vision and contribute to the future scope of the project.
9. Discover sources for acquiring new content.
10. Teamwork: Collaborate within a small team, consulting on expertise and user experience.
11. Consult with software engineers/coders to develop improvements in both the back-end and front-end of the database software.
Requirements
1. Demonstrable relevant experience from work, academic study, or external interest in the field of archives, data entry, and organisation of collections.
2. A demonstrable knowledge or interest in the history of art is desirable but not essential.
3. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, with exceptional attention to detail.
4. Highly motivated with the ability to demonstrate initiative and good time management skills.
5. Ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and function with limited supervision.
6. Right to live and work in the UK.
7. Knowledge of French and German is desirable but not essential.
