An exciting opportunity to apply for the role of a Transfusion Practitioner Band 7 has arisen, full time, 37.5 hours per week, however we would consider part time. This post is based at Colchester Hospital however cross site working to Ipswich Hospital will be required.
We are seeking a highly motivated experienced individual to join the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT), Blood Transfusion Team, alongside experienced Transfusion Practitioners, Consultant Haematologist’s and Laboratory Managers. We are looking to employ a registered healthcare professional (NMC or HCPC or other appropriate professional body).
Pathology at ESNEFT manages 60’000 group and save requests and over 27’000 component transfusions.
This team works with colleagues Trust wide to maintain patient safety and improve the service to patients receiving blood components and products. The successful candidate will work to change and develop the services guided by national guidelines and recommendations from the MHRA and other relevant bodies.
This will include working autonomously as well as part of a team in order to manage incidents, complete national and local audits related to transfusion practice and developing patient blood management strategies including safe transfusion practices through education and training. This role also has management responsibility for part of our team.
