Iveco Defense Vehicles designs and produces vehicles for military and civil protection applications. Iveco Defense Vehicles, headquartered in Bolzano, provides a product portfolio comprised of four segments: heavy vehicles for logistics, tactical vehicles, protected vehicles, and multi-role vehicles.
Iveco Defense Vehicles are built on cutting-edge anti-ballistic, anti-mine, and other life-saving technology, ensuring maximum mobility in the most difficult environments.
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the movement of goods and materials from suppliers to customers, ensuring efficient and timely delivery. They will coordinate transportation, track shipments, and communicate with various stakeholders to resolve any issues that may arise. The job exists to streamline the logistics process, minimize costs, and optimize inventory management, ultimately ensuring smooth operations and customer satisfaction. This is a salary, non-exempt position.
Primary Responsibilities
Coordination of Packaging and Transportation:
1. Ensuring all items are packaged in accordance with best commercial practices or military standards, depending on customer/contract requirements.
2. Arranging transportation for goods and materials, such as scheduling pickups and deliveries with carriers.
3. Tracking shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolving any delays or issues that may arise.
4. Negotiating freight rates and contracts with transportation providers to optimize costs.
Inventory Management:
1. Monitoring inventory levels and ensuring adequate stock levels to meet customer demand.
2. Collaborating with warehouse staff to manage inventory accuracy within the ERP system and ensure proper storage and handling of goods.
3. Conducting regular inventory audits and reconciling discrepancies to maintain accuracy.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
1. Ensuring accuracy of material movement transactions within the ERP system.
2. Generating and maintaining accurate shipping and receiving documents, such as bills of lading and shipping manifests.
3. Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and completing necessary paperwork for international shipments.
4. Maintaining organized records of transportation activities, including tracking numbers, delivery dates, and costs.
Communication and Coordination:
1. Liaising with suppliers, carriers, and customers to coordinate logistics activities and address any issues or concerns.
2. Providing regular updates to internal stakeholders on the status of shipments and anticipated delivery times.
3. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as Supply Chain and Operations, to ensure seamless coordination of logistics with other business functions.
Problem-Solving and Issue Resolution:
1. Identifying and resolving logistics-related issues, such as transportation delays, inventory shortages, or damaged goods.
2. Implementing corrective actions and process improvements to prevent recurrence of logistical problems.
3. Escalating complex issues to management or appropriate stakeholders for resolution when necessary.
4. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Associate's or bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
2. 1-3 years of experience in logistics coordination, freight forwarding, warehouse operations, or a similar field required.
3. A solid understanding of logistics and supply chain principles, including transportation modes, inventory management, and distribution networks, is essential.
4. Effective written and verbal communication skills are necessary for interacting with suppliers, carriers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
5. The ability to identify logistical issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions is essential for success in this role.
6. Must be a US citizen.
The physical requirements for this position involve general mobility within an office environment, occasional walking or standing to oversee logistics operations, and the ability to perform tasks such as typing, using a computer, and handling paperwork. Individuals should be capable of occasional lifting or bending as needed to inspect inventory or assist with logistical tasks.
