Our client, an independent mixed animal practice located in the heart of Cumbria, has been established in the area since the mid-1920s and has an excellent local reputation with a loyal clientele. They are looking for a small animal veterinary surgeon to join their amazing team.
Located in a picturesque market town in The Lake District, this is an ideal location for an outdoor enthusiast. There are endless opportunities for adventures right at your doorstep, such as hiking, road, gravel, and mountain biking, sailing, stand-up paddle boarding, windsurfing, and kayaking, rock climbing with everything from multi-pitch mountain trad climbing to sport and bouldering-both indoors and out. The Lakes is the birthplace of fell running, with hundreds of fell and trail routes and races to explore.
Our client is looking for a small animal vet to join their 27-vet team. Whether you are a new graduate just starting out or a seasoned pro seeking development opportunities, you will benefit from mentorship, knowledge sharing, and a culture that empowers you to reach your full potential. The team includes certificate holders in surgery, medicine, emergency and critical care, cardiology, diagnostic imaging, and exotics, ensuring there's always someone to offer a helping hand or discuss cases.
The practice operates across six branches with excellent purpose-built facilities, including top-end video endoscopy, high-resolution ultrasound scanning, class IV laser, Tonovet tonometer, and dental radiography, enabling them to provide comprehensive in-house and second-opinion services.
As a new graduate vet, you will receive the support you need. You will never be expected to work sole charge, and they start you off with 30-minute consults. The practice has a great track record of looking after new graduates, pairing you with one of their five VetGDP advisors, specially chosen to match your interests and career goals.

The Rota:
• Full time - 4 day week (8.30am - 6.30pm)
• 2 Vets operating each morning
• OOH rota designed so you never have to work a full weekend - you will only ever work one of the weekend nights and share the weekend with other vets
• You will get a half day off following a night on call and a day off following a weekend on call
The Benefits:
• Excellent salary from £36,000 to £70,000 DOE
