Job Summary
This post is a whole-time Consultant in Allergy (adult patients). The post is full-time, with a provisional job plan.
The appointee will join 1.2 WTE physicians (until September 2025, after which 1.0 WTE physicians) to provide specialist allergy management, evaluated as outpatients and day cases.
To co-provide, with the consultant physician colleagues, consultant allergy dietician, and specialist nurses, a clinical service in allergy medicine at a standard in keeping with the role of the department as a national and international clinical leader in the field.
To co-develop the service, integrating advances in diagnosis, management, and digital services, informing colleagues of these developments.
To participate in and develop clinical and organisational audit and clinical research, to maintain IQAS Royal College of Physicians accreditation and improve standards and quality of allergy care wherever possible.
To take an active role in teaching and training in the department at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Main Duties of the Job
Provide High Quality Care to Patients
* The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC full and specialist registration and hold a current licence to practice.
* To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.
Research, Teaching and Training
* To collaborate with academic and clinical colleagues to enhance the Trusts translational research portfolio, at all times meeting the full requirements of Research Governance.
* To provide high-quality teaching to medical undergraduates and members of other health care professions as required by the Clinical Director.
Performance Management
* To work with medical, nursing, laboratory and managerial colleagues to ensure high performance in the following areas:
* Clinical efficiency e.g. LOS reductions, reducing cancelled operations and DNA rates.
* Quality of outcomes e.g. infection control targets, reducing re-admission rates.
Strategy and Business Planning
* To participate in the business planning and objective setting process for the directorate and Trust where appropriate.
Leadership and Team Working
* To demonstrate excellent leadership skills with regard to individual performance, clinical teams, the Trust and when participating in national or local initiatives.
* To work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and Kings Health Partners as required.

Qualifications/Training Essential
* MB BS or equivalent.
* Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in respiratory medicine, or within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interview.
Desirable
* Higher degree (PhD, MD etc).
* On the Specialist Register of The GMC or within 6 months of eligibility at the time of interview.
Experience Essential
* Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in relevant speciality.
* Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision.
