Purpose Of The Role:
Reporting to the Customs Administration Manager, the Customs Administration Supervisors role is to ensure the daily operations of the customs administration team are conducted in an efficient and effective manner whilst adhering to, and complying with, company and external authority customs requirements and legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Proactively prevent, investigate for patterns to resolve queries and avoid trailers being diverted to an Inland Boarder Facility. Minimise delays and costs resulting from a trailer being held by an IBF and improve customer service levels.
• Reducing the transit time and customs debt to ensure Dachser’s Transit Guarantee is not compromised.
• Provide guidance and support on transit regularities and implementing the appropriate corrective actions in a time sensitive environment.
• Liaise written and verbally with internal customers to obtain information required to resolve the issues relating to customs clearance
• Take responsibility for Excel worksheet to provide monthly reports on the operational requirements of CIT to proactively support the branches and streamline processes
• To be an escalation point of contact to support query resolution and guidance within the team and branches.
• Actively manage team performance and determine division of work This is a multidisciplined role and some or all of the tasks could be focused on within the day.
Skills & Experience:
• People management experience
• Experience in a customs related role
• Good educational background
• Good knowledge of Third country customs regulations
• Good comprehension of Customs procedures and formalities
• Working knowledge of and familiarity with UK CHIEF system and proprietary software systems
• Familiar with Microsoft Office programs
• An awareness of global geography
• Leadership skills with proven track record
• Highly adaptable and able to work under pressurised situations
• Self-motivated and ability to take responsibility to resolve issues efficiently and effectively
• Excellent problem solving and analysis skills
• Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
• Excellent communication skills – with the ability to adapt their style and language (verbal and written) to suit the customer, department or level that they are dealing with
• Ability to create and maintain harmonious relationships with internal and external customers
