Description The Risk Division is a team of specialists charged with managing the firm’s credit, market, liquidity, operational and capital risk. Whether assessing the creditworthiness of the firm’s counterparties, monitoring market risks associated with trading activities, or offering analytical and regulatory compliance support, our work contributes directly to the firm’s success. CREDIT REVIEW The primary role of Credit Review is to independently assess the effectiveness of the Firm’s credit risk management processes. Credit Review is also responsible for providing senior management and the Board of Directors an objective and timely assessment of the credit portfolio. The group reports to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and is independent from Credit Risk. THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES As a member of Credit Review, you will be part of a team that conducts systematic reviews of wholesale credit portfolios, analyzing counterparty credit quality in order to determine the accuracy of risk identification in the portfolio as well as the adequacy of documentation, administration, policies, and procedures. Key responsibilities include: Leading and participating in industry reviews as well as performing continuous monitoring on assigned industry sectors. Industry Reviews: Prepare detailed, independent analysis on individual credits in adherence with established credit review procedures and regulatory guidance. Document conclusions clearly and concisely. Periodically manage and lead industry reviews, guiding review team to meet key milestones. Effectively aggregate, document, and communicate findings Evaluate adequacy of analysis completed by Credit Risk including, among other things, accuracy of credit ratings, timeliness of any rating changes, identification of potential credit weaknesses, and adherence to applicable policies and procedures, laws and regulations Effectively challenge Credit Risk’s ratings, policies, procedures, as warranted Continuous Monitoring: Perform ongoing surveillance of assigned industry sectors, staying informed of trends / credit-related activities and identifying emerging risks Prepare quarterly reports assessing the industry portfolio’s overall risk EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree 10 years of banking or credit-related experience; prior credit review, credit risk management, lending, regulatory supervision, or similar work experience Specific experience in Counterparty Credit Risk including credit analysis for Funds, Financial Institutions, NBFI and trading documentation (ISDA/CSA) is required Experience in corporates, industrials, commercial real estate, energy, technology / media / telecom is a plus Strong knowledge of credit analysis, ratings analysis, corporate finance and/or research Experience with internal audit or credit/loan risk review process preferred Knowledge of banking regulations related to lending and risk management preferred Functional background or relevant experience in finance and accounting Knowledge of lending products, as well as capital markets/traded products Understanding of credit/loan documentation Effective organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently Highly motivated, adaptable, and able to learn quickly Strong analytical and communication skills Ability to function efficiently in a team environment Ability to provide consultation and expert advice to management ABOUT GOLDMAN SACHS At Goldman Sachs, we commit our people, capital and ideas to help our clients, shareholders and the communities we serve to grow.
