The role
As a Legal Director, you’ll lead the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures, development of legal structures for Babcock, delivery of legal advice, handling of legal cases, and the functional leadership of legal professionals.
Responsibilities:
* Providing subject matter expert legal advice (including drafting terms and conditions, agreements and advising the risks of these).
* Supporting and where appropriate leading negotiations with customers and suppliers on contractual positions.
* Advising on legislation and regulatory changes and impacts (including the Defence Reform Act (DRA) / Single Source Contracting Regulations (SSCR)/ NEC).
* Developing policies, processes, and procedures, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements and broader corporate policy framework.
* Instructing external legal resources for key opportunities and tracking associated costs to ensure budgets are maintained.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week, and follows an agile working pattern. The successful candidate can be based anywhere in the UK but must be prepared for regular travel to Bristol and London.
Essential experience of the Legal Director:
* Business insight, demonstrating experience within a defence or engineering legal environment and familiarity with the challenges in this market.
* Strategic mindset, looking ahead to future possibilities and translating them into breakthrough strategies.
* Ability to anticipate and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders and promote an environment of high ethical standards and cross-cultural sensitivity.
* Accountability by holding self and others accountable to meet commitments and adhere to goals, policies, and procedures.
* Strong leadership skills and experience in leading and developing a legal function.
Qualifications for the Legal Director:
* You will have a LLB law degree and certificate to practice.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
