Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking to take the next step in your career? If so, join our team as a Lead Occupational Therapist. You will be joining a service for adults and adolescents with Mental Health issues that consists of 2 adult acute wards and 2 CAMHS low secure wards. Join the team that's providing care for young people and adults with acute mental health needs and personality disorders in an established 24-hour care environment. The CAMHS Tier 4 Low Secure services are for young people aged 13-18.
What you will be doing
As the Lead Occupational Therapist, you will be managing and leading the Occupational Therapy Service across the CAMHS and Adult services, using evidence-based and patient-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, which provide patients with the confidence, skills and coping strategies required for independent living. You will report directly to the Therapy Lead, with the opportunity to work autonomously in your running of the OT department.
Given the complexity of the CAMHS cases, it is expected that the majority of your direct clinical work will be on the CAMHS wards, and you will be an 'internal care coordinator' to some of the families. You will be responsible for managing and coordinating the implementation of individual treatment plans for occupational therapy services ensuring treatments, activities and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication by the Occupational Therapists. You will need to be confident in the application of your OT skills and knowledge but also highly adaptable, and able to tailor your intervention to the needs of our service users. The young people on the CAMHS wards in particular often have highly complex backgrounds with co-morbid presentations, and have experienced a number of unsuccessful interventions, and often a number of previous inpatient admissions. You will need to be patient, sensitive and determined to engage them in therapy.
As a Lead Occupational Therapist, you will be:
1. Receiving and responding promptly to referrals, undertaking patient assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis.
2. Working to develop living skills, rehabilitation, and educational opportunities/therapies under the strategic direction of the Therapy Lead and other members of the Senior Management Team.
3. Ensuring the effective and efficient management of Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapist Assistants and students.
4. Planning and implementing individual and group interventions collaboratively with Service users.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
1. To be qualified and registered as an Occupational Therapist.
2. At least 3 years post qualifying experience.
3. Substantial experience of working within Mental Health, preferably with both CAMHS and Adult experience.
4. Substantial experience of inpatient work.
What you will get:
1. Annual salary of up to £48,000 - £52,000 depending on experience.
2. The equivalent of 33 days annual leave (including Bank Holidays) - plus your birthday off!
3. Free meals and parking.
4. Wellbeing support and activities to help you maintain a great work-life balance.
5. Career development and training to help you achieve your career goals.
6. Pension contribution to secure your future.
7. Life Assurance for added peace of mind.
8. Enhanced Maternity Package so you can truly enjoy this special time.
9. There is also a range of other benefits including retail discounts and special offers, car leasing without a credit check and much more.
