About the Role:
This position will help drive IPS Adhesives safety by creating and controlling HS&E systems, programs, and initiatives for the Newcastle upon Tyne site. The HS&E Lead will manage general duties including regulatory compliance, investigations, audits, and training.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
* Provide strategic direction and leadership for the HSE function in Europe.
* Collaborate with site leaders to integrate HSE objectives into business operations. Continually evaluate working practices and drive forward efforts to enhance safety culture.
* Provide competent support, advice, and guidance on safety legislation and good practices to all levels of the business.
* Ensure Safety KPIs are monitored, measured, reported on and action taken where necessary.
* Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive HSE policies and procedures.
* Monitor site risk assessment process and provide assistance/advice to ensure site risk assessments/safe systems of work are maintained and meet regulatory requirements.
* Take the initiative for the implementation of the HSE across the UK ensuring compliance to all legal frameworks and all other requirements including certification standards to: ISO 45001, 14001.
* Ensure the Company takes appropriate actions to meet its sustainability goals and commitments, as well as external customer and reporting obligations.
* Lead best practice of Health Safety and Environment controls and implementation of initiatives.
* Responsibility for conducting investigations regarding accidents, incidents, and near misses; reporting findings and recommendations to implement for continuous improvement.
* Plan and undertake safety and environment process audits.
* Manage the Company’s HSE training regime, such as designing and delivering HSE training programs throughout the Company to ensure compliance against HSE standards and create a positive safety culture.
* Other duties as assigned.

Education And Experience Requirements
* At least NEBOSH qualified with at least 5 years’ experience of managing HSE in manufacturing.
* Qualified in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 with experience of establishing ISO standards in a business and meeting audit requirements.
* Experience with CBAM, PEFC, and FSC reporting would be advantageous.
* Membership of a professional body such as IOSH or IEMA.
* Proven track record of dealing with all Health, Safety, and Environmental issues relating to a manufacturing/industrial organisation. Core skills such as effective risk assessment, COSHH assessment, accident/incident investigation, and implementation of proactive problem-solving techniques are required.
* Knowledge of environmental, health and safety policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements.
