Role:
Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the Operations Manager will take full responsibility for the manufacturing and engineering operations at Loughborough. The main responsibility will be to provide strong leadership to ensure a safe working environment, allowing a focus on quality and production efficiency through root cause analysis and the empowerment and development of our people. The aim is to achieve optimisation of our people, equipment, and materials throughout the manufacturing operational process, in order to maximise sustainable profits for the business whilst building a well-trained, flexible and motivated team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that you and your team are aware of and work within the company’s latest policies and procedures & complete all mandatory training.
2. Ensure that all products are manufactured to the highest quality and therefore strengthen our position as market leader; any non-conformance or customer complaints are dealt with to root cause.
3. Analyse and report performance based on the identified KPI’s to the Operations Director.
4. Ensure that all operational teams work safely and proactively towards reducing risk within the working environment.
5. Lead a no harm culture within the operations team.
6. Ensure all proactive H&S actions are completed by the team each month.
7. Ensure all near misses and accidents are investigated thoroughly to root cause and suitable remedial actions are put in place to remove/reduce the risk.
8. Ensure all risk assessments are in place and up to date for tasks within the operational department.
9. Ensure operations team complete all mandatory and compliance training.
10. Ensure that all operational teams fully understand their roles and objectives and are well organised and professional in their approach.
11. Lead the training, development, and empowerment of our people within the operational teams.
12. Ensure that direct reports have training and development plans in place for their teams.
13. Fully embed the Genuit Business System into the operational day-to-day activities of the team.
14. Lead a continuous improvement approach to removing root causes of waste and therefore continually strive to improve efficiencies across all areas.
15. Ensure that the operational team are fully trained in the appropriate CI tools and techniques and are empowered to drive change.
16. Ensure that the operations team are aware of and fully support actions resulting from Polypipe CGU’s Strategy Deployment priorities.
17. Further develop the operational strategy and strategic actions in line with the Genuit Sustainable Solutions for Growth strategy.
18. Ensure regular reviews with direct reports to identify and monitor annual strategic action plans for everyone.
19. Identify areas where capital investment will enable a step change improvement or reduction in cost and manage those projects to successful implementation.
20. Identify and improve areas within the operational value stream that can deliver improved business performance.
Person:
1. GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade C or Equivalent standard, Educated to A Level standard.
2. Graduate Degree or Equivalent in Engineering/Manufacturing/Business Development associated topics would be desirable, but not essential.
3. Previous experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment & in leadership of large teams of people is essential.
4. Previous experience in detailed problem solving and improvement projects would be essential for the role.
5. Strong leadership skills and a proven track record of managing people in line with our Trade Mark Behaviours; deep understanding of problem solving & CI tools and techniques; self-motivated, well organized, and methodical work ethic.
