Applications are invited for Advanced Clinical Pharmacist– Homecare & High Cost Drugs Band 8A at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
Applicants will assist the Head of Pharmacy and all other pharmacy staff in providing and developing an efficient and comprehensive pharmaceutical service for the patients of MWL Teaching Hospitals.

· To manage and develop the clinical services and delivery of all high cost and homecare medicines to MWL patients.
• To lead and deliver high quality clinical pharmacy services to patients under your care at Mersey and West Lancashire (MWL) teaching Hospitals, including the development of a speciality pharmacist role in line with national and local medicines optimisation strategies at the Whiston and St. Helens sites.
• Liaise with thePrincipal Pharmacist for Medicines Optimisationin the development and maintenance of a Homecare strategy. This includes leading on clinical and financial aspects of product switching to ensure best value for money for all procured homecare medicines.
• To assist the Head of Pharmacy and all other pharmacy staff in providing and developing an efficient and comprehensive pharmaceutical service for the patients of Mersey and West Lancashire (MWL) teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
• To participate in the department rota to ensure a pharmacy service is provided efficiently over 7 days

Our Services:
Acute Care
Providing emergency and maternity services at Whiston, Southport and Ormskirk hospitals, and medical and surgical specialties across all our sites.
Primary Care
Providing primary care services at Marshalls Cross Medical Centre situated in St Helens Hospital.
Community Services
Providing adult community services for St Helens and a wheelchair service in Chorley, South Ribble, and West Lancashire. Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation, freeing up space for more unwell patients. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.
Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

KEYDUTIES
Homecare/High Cost Drugs
To provide a clinical service in the provision of all high cost drug prescriptions to the key therapeutic areas, with a focus on use of biologic medicines in specific clinical areas.
To support the development of commissioner approved pathways within these key therapeutic areas, liaising with clinicians and nurse specialists
To support the use of biologics including the introduction of biosimilar equivalents in the Trust according to agreed protocols and standards.
