We currently have a post at band 6 available in the following clinical areas:
1. Early Years Community Clinic
2. Specialist Nurseries for Children with social communication and associated speech & language difficulties
These teams work with busy, interesting and diverse caseloads. For three days in each two weeks, this post delivers part of our preschool complex needs service to a specialist nursery within the locality. You will work in liaison with a colleague delivering the same service to a different specialist nursery (Please see the additional "Day in the life" information for this aspect of the role).
This post:
Enables the development of a wide range of specialist clinical skills in both community clinic and EY settings.
Involves the delivery of direct intervention in both the clinic and the nursery with the opportunity to see the impact on the child's communication development and participation
Will develop your skills as a teacher and a leader; supporting the wider workforce in the use of facilitative and therapeutic approaches and empowering parents to feel confident in supporting their child's speech, language and communication development
Provides opportunities for you to share your skills as a member of our clinical educator team; providing high quality learning experience to the next generation of speech and language therapists and assistants as well as supporting and mentoring newly qualified therapists.
Main duties of the job
Within each of the teams you will be responsible for managing your own caseload providing assessment advice and training as required. An ability to develop strong working relationships with education staff is essential. You will also be required to liaise closely with parents and other health professionals to ensure strategies and approaches can be embedded both at home and in school. Within the educational settings, you will have a key role in developing staff skills to promote suitably adapted learning and communication environments.
International applicants must demonstrate that they are at International English Language Testing System ( IELTS) level 8.

About us
All members of the team receive structured support and supervision from the clinical leads for the relevant clinical areas. You will also be required to join a clinical supervision group which may be within or across clinical areas. Over and above that, you will benefit from the readiness of all team members, managers and administrative staff to provide support on a day to day basis.
If successful, you would receive an induction with opportunities for shadowing other team members. We have regular team meetings and clinical forums. We offer in-house training in a range of specialist areas and benefit from access to Trust funding for external courses when appropriate. We also have equipment budgets which enable the service to continually improve resources for assessment and therapy.

We are a small and welcoming locality team and benefit from a location with easy access across the south coast, the South Downs and to London.
