Main purpose of post
Eaton Barn is a horticultural project and retail space where participants grow and sell herbs, flowers, plants, fruit, and vegetables, and learn horticultural skills, green woodworking, and craft skills. We aim to enable our participants to gain new skills, and to benefit from a therapeutic outdoor environment. We are therefore looking for a candidate with the skills and drive to:
* Assist with the successful day-to-day running of Eaton Barn.
* Contribute to the development of the project to meet the needs of participants now and into the future.
* Develop an alternative craft/horticultural activity, suited to run alongside existing Eaton Barn operations, which will extend the current range of retail standard products.
Main Tasks
The role requires you to take responsibility for assisting with the successful delivery and development of Eaton Barn, under the guidance of the Project Manager and the Deputy Chief Officer for Social Enterprise. In particular, you will be responsible for the following duties:
* Assisting with organising, planning, and running engaging activities to meet the needs of the participants.
* Giving clear guidance and supporting volunteer staff to carry out their required tasks.
* Supporting the participants to develop independence; express their individuality; make informed choices; and develop new friendships.
* Providing practical support to the participants to ensure they are welcomed and feel safe, made to feel valued and encouraged to contribute, supported to develop new skills and try new activities to build confidence, and given any assistance needed to ensure they are comfortable and maintain their dignity at all times. This may include physical care, assistance or prompting in accordance with the individual’s care plan, assistance to take medication, or manage their continence.
* Monitoring the development and achievements of the project and participants to help maximise each individual’s potential.
* Contributing to and supporting the review, assessment, and planning process for the project and participants.
