About Royal Norwich
An outstanding opportunity to lead the development and growth of this high profile, private member golf and leisure club. The Club enjoys a 350-acre picturesque woodland site and is home to 24 holes of highly regarded championship golf, an amazing and modern clubhouse that has a wide range of flexible suites that is home to a busy conference, events and hospitality offering, a fitness suite and Padel court.
Created by the amalgamation of historic Royal Norwich and Weston Park Golf Club in 2019, the club was restructured earlier this year and is now under the control of a private investor and plans for long-term sustainable growth.
Reporting to the Board of Directors through the Chairman, the Managing Director will be responsible for managing the overall performance of the Club, the design and implementation of a strategic growth plan and for the delivery of an exceptional and consistent member, guest, and visitor experience.
The Role
Key requirements of the role will include but not be limited to:
* Assume full responsibility for the ownership and delivery of the Club’s strategic, capital, and annual plans.
* Lead, mentor and build a strong management team including effective performance management and succession planning.
* Establish a positive culture that instils personal development, outstanding performance and rewards excellence.
* Design and deliver innovative and effective sales and marketing strategies to increase membership, visitor revenue and all secondary income streams.
* Present to the board dynamic strategies to grow the business with new opportunities that can provide a return on investment and add to the on-site portfolio increasing net asset value.
* In conjunction with the Finance Team, ensure that the financial integrity of the Club is always maintained, and adequate internal controls are in place.
* Ensure the delivery of an outstanding experience and “delighting” members, guests and visitors at all times.
* In conjunction with the Estates Director, ensure the golf courses and practice facilities are to the highest standards of condition and playability.
* In conjunction with the Clubhouse Manager, ensure the delivery of a consistently exceptional Clubhouse experience by providing a profit making, high-calibre food and beverage offering, quality service and appropriate social environment.
* Be proactive in planning for capital projects that need to be considered for the benefit of the Club and prepare appropriate capital expenditure proposals for Board consideration.
The Person
Through their previous experience, the ideal candidate will be be able to offer the following key skills, experience and personal attributes:
* Extensive senior management level experience within a premium leisure or hospitality-based business supported with a successful track record of managing and driving performance through significant commercial growth, operational excellence, inspirational leadership and stringent cost controls.
* Intellectually strong with high level of strategic acumen and business management skills.
* Driven and ambitious with a demonstrable track record of implementing dynamic and innovative sales and marketing strategies to optimise all revenue streams.
* Extremely strong customer service ethos
* A strong working knowledge of Food and Beverage operations.
* Outstanding financial acumen - effective cost control, accurate reporting and compliance.
* Highly personable, engaging and visible leader and figure-head, who will immerse themselves across all aspects of the Club and wider local community.
* Outstanding stakeholder management skills and ability to build strong relationships with the Board, the Team and Members.
* Inspirational leadership capabilities, leading by example through a visible and hands-on approach.
* An interest in Golf is essential.
* Currently or willing to settle in Norfolk and committed to progressing the performance and reputation of the Royal Norwich Club.
