Assistant SENDCo - Job Description
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Assistant SENDCo to join a dedicated team at a vibrant school. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate professional to support the provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, working alongside an experienced SENDCo and leadership team. The position begins in September 2025.
Responsibilities of the Assistant SENDCo:
1. Support the SENDCo in managing the day-to-day operation of SEND provision across the school.
2. Collaborate with staff, pupils, and families to ensure children with additional needs are fully supported to reach their potential.
3. Assist in the identification, assessment, and monitoring of pupils with SEND.
4. Support the development, review, and implementation of EHCPs, Individual Support Plans, and personalized interventions.
5. Help organize and deliver training and support for staff regarding inclusive teaching strategies.
6. Liaise with external agencies and professionals as appropriate.
7. Promote a culture of high expectations, inclusion, and achievement for all pupils.
8. Hold QTS and have experience working with pupils with SEND.
9. Be passionate about inclusive education and improving outcomes for all learners.
10. Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
11. Work collaboratively with staff, families, and external agencies.
12. Understand current SEND legislation, the Code of Practice, and inclusive classroom strategies.
13. (Desirable) Have completed, be working towards, or be willing to undertake the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO).
