Salary: £55,760 - £62,000. This role typically attracts an ICT allowance of up to £10,000 for eligible individuals. Confirmation of eligibility will be provided to the successful applicant on appointment.

About the Team
The Treasury Business Solutions (TBS) are a friendly, flexible and varied team, responsible for HM Treasury's technology, security, places and knowledge and information management services. Collaborating with our partners, we lead and run technology-enabled change; taking forward programmes and projects that improve services, enabling our customers to deliver outstanding services to Government.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Technical Architect to join our Technology team; someone with a good understanding of a broad range of technologies and great problem solving and communication skills.
Working directly with the Chief Technology Officer, you'll help us make a real change to the way HM Treasury operates; driving technological innovation to deliver change and benefit to our users. You will be a key player in crafting the way HM Treasury works, engaging with high profile activities and making a real difference to the way this great department operates.
Key accountabilities
1. Leading on technical change and delivering solutions that meet user needs. Collaborating with customers, partners and suppliers to ensure that solutions are supportable and delivered into service in line with good industry practice.
2. Providing analysis, prototyping and/or solutions to support the development of business cases. Input into business case developing by clarifying the cost/benefit case for technology spending. Scoping appropriate proof-of-concept projects to confirm the feasibility of change to existing and new applications and technologies.
3. Defining and presenting policies and guidance for users acquiring and operating new technologies.
4. Producing a strategy for technology that meets business needs. Developing and communicating the technology roadmap to the Senior Management Team, users and collaborators. Assess and communicate risks associated with investments and purchases.

About you
Our successful candidate will have a recognised certification in technology or architecture. As you’ll be provide technical leadership to all of our users, you’ll also have an excellent understanding of a broad range of technologies; can converse easily with, and translate between, non-technical stakeholders and technical practitioners, and will be able to switch between a variety of problems and responsibilities.
