Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Halton & Warrington Community Learning Disability Teams (CLDT) for a Principal Clinical Psychologist to lead the Intensive Support Function of our Teams.
The post holder will provide strategic and clinical leadership for the delivery of the ISF function across the Halton & Warrington CLDT, contributing specialist psychological knowledge to support the provision of specialist assessment, therapy, risk assessment, and risk management plans for individuals with learning disabilities and complex presentations.
Main Duties of the Job
We are looking for a confident individual to provide strategic and clinical leadership. In return, you will receive clinical and managerial supervision, links to peer psychology meetings, appropriate training, CPD opportunities, and an annual personal development review.
Our core operational hours are between 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday. Applicants must be flexible with their working patterns to meet the needs of the service.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
To provide strategic and clinical leadership for the Enhanced Intensive Support (EIS) function. The post holder will contribute specialist psychological knowledge to support the team in the provision of assessments and therapy for individuals with complex presentations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical:
* Be a member of the service team and adhere to guidelines and policies.
* Systematically provide the Enhanced Intensive Support (EIS) service at a highly specialist level.
* Interpret and integrate complex data from various sources, including psychological tests and interviews.
* Provide highly specialist psychological assessments and interventions.
* Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for assessment, treatment, and discharge of clients.
* Consult with staff and provide supervision in psychological techniques.
* Carry a specialized caseload of clients with complex psychological problems.
* Develop highly specialized clinical psychology interventions and management plans.
* Consult with a wide range of services to ensure effective communication of clinical information.
* Undertake risk assessment and risk management for individuals presenting with self-harm or harm to others.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Up to date Professional Registration (to be maintained).
* Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or equivalent).
* Registration with Health Professions Council as Practising Psychologist (to be maintained).
* Training in a specialist therapeutic modality appropriate to the clinical population served.
* Pre-qualification training in research methodology and staff training.
Knowledge/Experience
* Experience of specialist psychological assessment and intervention across various settings.
* Ability to communicate effectively in highly emotive situations.
* Knowledge of psychological therapies for difficult-to-treat groups.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Knowledge of the Mental Capacity and Mental Health Act.
* Experience in delivering teaching, training, and supervision.
* Experience in consultation to other professional groups.
* Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology.
* Knowledge of current psychological evidence base and best practice.
* Experience of autonomous clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care.
