Location: Hybrid, with an opportunity of attending our modern Haywards Heath office twice a month
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £30,000 to £36,000
About the role
As a key member of the Sightsavers in-house design team, you will play a crucial role in creating a diverse array of print and digital communications. You’ll work to develop rich, multi-channel content designed to inspire our audiences to raise funds and drive change, and craft simple yet impactful graphics that effectively convey our key messages and showcase our global project work. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful initiatives and help guide users through our mission and achievements, and we’d especially welcome applications from people with lived or cultural experience of our programme countries in Africa and South Asia.
Responsibilities
* Create layouts, graphics, illustrations and images for print publications, including posters, reports, leaflets, booklets, exhibition banners, etc.
* Create pre-flighted press-ready artwork.
* Repurpose digital assets for offline use and vice versa.
* Ensure all documents and materials follow brand and accessibility guidelines.
* Create assets for web, social media, advertising banners, header images for emails, icons, etc.
* Support the digital designers on projects when necessary.
* Work as an integral part of the design, brand and digital experience team, championing our brand and accessibility work amongst colleagues.
* Work closely with team colleagues to deliver projects to brief and on schedule.

Skills and Experience
The Graphic Designer will be a creative and detail-oriented professional with a passion for visual storytelling. They will excel in creating compelling print and digital assets, ensuring all materials adhere to brand and accessibility guidelines. A collaborative team player, they will work closely with colleagues to deliver projects on brief and on schedule, championing the brand and demonstrating flexibility in their work. The ideal candidate will support digital designers when necessary and take on additional duties within their skills and abilities.
Jobholder Requirements
Essential Skills:
* A strong design portfolio.
* Design-related educational qualifications or professional design experience.
* Strong skills in Adobe Creative Cloud, especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
* Knowledge of social media platforms and asset creation for these.
* Understanding of and commitment to accessibility principles (visual and technical).
* An understanding of editorial design production processes and workflows.
* A sophisticated understanding of the benefits of visual communications.
* Good attention to detail.
* Strong design, layout, illustration, and typography skills.
* Knowledge of print and print finishing.
* Able to work independently and prioritise work to meet deadlines.
* An understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity for disabled people.
* Able to work accurately under tight deadlines when necessary.
* A commitment to inclusion is a must for all Sightsavers staff.
Desirable Skills:
* Motion graphics and animation experience and knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Premiere, Audition, and Animate.
* User Experience design knowledge.
* HTML and CSS skills.
* Lived or cultural experience of any of our programme countries in Africa and South Asia, as well as relevant languages.
