Job Summary An opportunity has arisen to join our Respiratory Physiology Department. We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Respiratory Physiologist to join our busy, and evolving service to support our Community Diagnostics Centre. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who wants to excel professionally and is committed to providing a high-quality service. You must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. This exciting new post will be based predominantly in our Community Diagnostics Centre. The successful candidate will be required to work autonomously and be responsible for the day-to-day running of a lung function laboratory. We are proud as a Service to be shortlisted for the Trust FABB Awards 2021, and are currently in the longlist nominations for the FABB Innovation Category this year. We will consider post as a 6/7 development post dependent on experience. Main duties of the job As well as performing a range of routine and more complex pulmonary function investigations, the successful candidate will also be expected to play an active role in the education and training of junior staff. As well as other healthcare professionals including physiotherapists, nursing staff, medical students, and junior doctors. Candidates must have a Clinical Physiology BSc or equivalent. The appointee should be RCCP registered or working towards RCCP registration Main Duties To competently perform a full range of basic lung function tests on adult out-patients. To competently analyse and report lung function tests. To review and prioritise requests for respiratory investigations within lung function. To liaise with medical staff and booking team To effectively, promptly, and professionally respond to emergency situations, maintaining control and requesting assistance as necessary. To participate in training for on-going professional development and maintain standards of technical competency. To assist with the efficient running of the technical service by prioritising the daily workload where appropriate. To deputise for the Manager when necessary and undertake any other duties as required.
