Horseley Farm Partnership are looking for a Vineyard Manager
to join our current team in Somerset. As Vineyard Manager you will be responsible
for Durslade Vineyard towards the eastern border of Somerset, next to the River
Brue sat on a gentle eastern slope of clay and limestone. Our vineyard is just
a stone’s throw away from the ancient Roman terraces.
You will join us as we continue the expansion of the current
vineyard from 8,000 to 23,000 vines made up of Baccus, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir
and Pinot Meunier.
This position comes with a salary of £40,000 per annum with the
opportunity of live in accommodation in a 4 bedroom house situated on the farm,
including paid council tax and water bills.
Duties and hours will vary throughout the year but include:
* Spraying by tractor – PA1, 2 and 3 spraying
license preferrable but training to gain qualification can be provided
* Managing harvest – Includes managing temporary
workers, grape delivery to local press, managing time lines of work
* Managing vineyard expansion and new vine
establishment
* Hands on work and maintenance including pruning,
trellising, fencing and daily maintenance
Given our location and sustainable focus, experience from a biodynamic
background in the UK would be beneficial. This role will involve lone working
and therefore requires management of own workload throughout the year, you will
be supported by the wider team with larger scopes of work. You will report to
the Estates Manager who will be your main point of contact.
