What's involved with this role: Temporary Surveyor - Estates Reference no: Barnsley TCL 0009 5754 / 1 Pay Rate: up to £17.12 per hour PAYE depending on experience 37 Monday to Friday, normal working hours This opening assignment is for 5 months City: BARNSLEY Basic DBS disclosure required Hybrid working Require support across the board in the Estates team, which we have been broadly split into 3 work areas; acquisitions and disposals, commercial property management and valuation. Potential candidates would ideally have some previous experience of one or all of the areas but must have an aptitude to work independently and take a lead with their allocated workload with appropriate supervision. In addition to providing support across the commercial portfolio, particularly looking for someone to assist in the management of the Council's industrial estates, to include day to day management, debt recovery and lettings and to undertake a full review of the portfolio along with strategic recommendations in terms of future opportunities and risks. Key Responsibilities: Tenant (or landlord) liaison and dealing with tenant enquiries and disputes. Landlord and Tenant matters Debt management Dealing with tenant requests for alterations, assignment etc New lettings and lease renewals including valuation for rents. Qualifications: Relevant RICS exempting degree Knowledge: Knowledge of general valuation and estate/asset management strategies and policies and the application of RICS Valuation - Professional Standards UK 2014 (Red Book) and Code of Conduct and CIPFA guidelines. Knowledge of Microsoft packages i.e. Word, Excel, Access Good awareness of general valuation and estate management activities. Experience: Some experience of general valuation and estate management. Experience of general valuation and estate management and progressing towards RICS accreditation. Some experience of working in the Local Authority/public sector. Significant work experience and completion of APC for RICS accreditation. Skills & Abilities: Good oral and written communication skills. High level of oral and written communication skills. Ability to manage workload effectively to meet performance targets.
