This post offers an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated School Nurse or Trainee School Nurse to join the Upper Marr HV/SN team. The successful candidate would be based in Alford Academy (on a non-term time contract) and there is an expectation they would assist the SN service across the Huntly cluster at times also.
This is an exciting time to join our team as the School Nursing service in Aberdeenshire is progressing towards a refocused role based on the Scottish Government work around the SN priority pathways.
The post holder will be expected to provide an accessible, high quality, safe, person-centred and effective School Nursing Service in Upper Marr. They will work in partnership with children, young people and families, multidisciplinary and multiagency colleagues to assess and provide targeted support for health and wellbeing needs.
The post holder will be accountable for caseload management and School Nursing responsibilities and will support the School Nursing team as delegated by the School Nurse/Team Leader.
Applicants must be a first level registered nurse and have a post graduate Specialist Community Public Health School Nursing qualification or Advanced Practice Nursing (SN) qualification or commit to apply for and complete the MSc at RGU, working as a band 5 Trainee School Nurse in the interim.
Candidates should have a working knowledge of child protection systems.
Good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills are essential.
A basic knowledge of common IT systems is required and experience of working in a leadership role would be advantageous.
Due to the geographical location, the ability and willingness to travel throughout Upper Marr is essential for this post.
