An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with relevant skills, experience and knowledge to join the Corporate Nursing Safeguarding Team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMB) on a permanent basis.
The post holder will be working as part of an integrated children's and adults safeguarding team which works across the Morecambe Bay footprint but will be based at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
Main duties of the job
The post involves providing comprehensive administrative support to the Safeguarding Team to ensure efficient and smooth running of the service within the core service hours. The post holder will manage the safeguarding business support team.
The post holder will be required to work in a very busy and demanding environment and should be flexible and adaptable whilst having the ability to prioritise work and use their initiative to make sound judgements.
The postholder will be required to provide a wide range of administrative duties, including liaison with colleagues in partner agencies to enhance the service provision of safeguarding across the Trust and with partner agencies which may include liaison with families, Children’s Social Care, Adult Social Care, Police and other partner agencies.
The Postholder will offer administrative support to the Named Nurse/Midwife & Head safeguarding when responding to the death of an Infant, child or young person as stated in Working Together 2023.
The post holder is required to maintain the Trust’s values and core standards and to lead by example.
To work with little supervision on a day-to-day basis, within agreed Trust Policies and Procedures.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Person specification
Education, Skills and Experience
* Good literacy and numeracy skills
* Experience of working in an administrator role
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to use IT data collection, formats and databases to produce reports
* Able to work as part of a team, but use own initiative
* ECDL or equivalent
* Experience of delivering administration tasks within the NHS/Safeguarding team
* Previous involvement in audit and project work
* Experience of organising meetings, agendas and typing up minutes

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
