Job summary
We are looking for highly, dynamic clinicians to join our team, to implement the newly acquired Long-Acting Reversible Contraception Community Service. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to be part of this exciting, innovative new model of care from the outset, and a fundamental participant in improving public health outcomes for the local population.
Ideally you will be competent and confident in the fitting and removal of both intrauterine devices and sub-dermal Implants, also in the provision of basic sexual health you can only fit implants or coils, we will still consider your application.
To support the care given by other professionals within the SoliHealth team, in the LARC Service (Long Acting Reversible Contraceptive).
The post holder will provide a high level of personal care to patients to ensure they are always treated with dignity and respect, are provided with high quality care and clear and understandable information in a format/language they understand. The post holder is accountable for their own practice without direct supervision and will be a direct provider of higher-level nursing practice to patients with contraceptive needs.
Main duties of the job
The post is an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, responsible for the delivery of highly technical and specialised clinical skills which will include but not be limited to:
1. Assessment and history taking
2. Clinical examination, including bimanual
3. Identifying appropriate methods of contraception
4. Initiation of treatment and plans of care, including independent assessment for provision of medications
5. Provision of all methods of LARC following discussion and assessment ensuring patient can make an informed choice and consent
6. Appropriate onward referral to other health and social care professionals if appropriate
There may be weekend work required for this post.

KeyResponsibilities:
Clinical
14. Delivercare to patients pertaining to their sexual health needs in line with currentBASHH/FSRH guidance
15. Complywith FSRH requirements on updating professional practice and reaccreditation
16. Carryout competent clinical examination of female patients, including cervical andbimanual examination. Be able to diagnose and clinically manage presentationsof sexually transmitted infections and related conditions, and referral in toLevel 3 Sexual Health Services providing patients with appropriate advice.Recognise complex issues relating to patients sexual health needs and seekappropriate advice where necessary.
17. Followservice guidelines on confidentiality; adhere to the law regarding sexualhealth advice to those under sixteen years; Follow organisational policy andgood practice assessment regarding safeguarding young people and vulnerableadults following appropriate Spectrum and Safeguarding Board policies
18. Providea comprehensive discussion in the event of an unplanned pregnancy and refer toappropriate agencies as necessary
19. Assess,advice, prescribe, administer, and carry out the full range of LARC proceduresrequired by patients, following discussion with the individual as to theircontraception choices, in line with FSRH current guidance.
20. Ensureknowledge of sexual health, in particular contraception is up to date andfollow National recommendations and guidelines for their management. UnderstandHIV and its impact on sexual health care and contraception choices
21. Attendin-service training, courses, study days and staff meetings as required andkeep up to date with current trends and procedures.
22. Maintainaccurate contemporaneous electronic patient records, in line with local andnational information governance policy/legislation
23. Participatein teaching student doctors, nurses and other learners visiting the departmentas appropriate
24. Engagementwith contract management and achievement of the service KPIs
25. Reportincidents/complaints according to local policies
26. Thepost holder will be expected to maintain their own professional clinicalstandards and CPD for revalidation as set out by the NMC/GMC.
