Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.
Package: from £38,000 to £45,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience).
Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. We will consider flexible working requests so that your work may fit in with your lifestyle. Just let us know your preferred working pattern on your application.
Let us introduce the role
As the Assistant Project Manager, you will deliver low risk, low complexity tasks/work packages within a formal project environment to contribute towards successful completion of projects, under the control of a project manager or senior project manager, compliant with AWE processes.
You will focus on stakeholder engagement and relationship management, liaising with highly technical colleagues and regularly conversing with experts in their field. This role is instrumental to delivering on AWE’s core mission, your focus will be on ensuring the critical path of activity is delivered to time, cost, and quality. In your role you will:
1. Undertake tasks for Governance (compliance and reporting).
2. Task management of project resources (people, money).
3. Support the planning of the task/project.
4. Support and initiate change against the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB).
5. Support, initiate and perform risk and opportunity identification and subsequent actions.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager with an interest in working with science and technology projects to:
1. Deliver assigned tasks in accordance with requirements, operational constraints, time, cost and quality.
2. Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.
Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we’d like you to have experience in some of the following:
1. High energy levels and a ‘can do’ attitude to ensure successful project delivery.
2. Awareness of project lifecycle management.
3. Understanding of project schedule management, dependencies, and risk assessment.
4. A clear and concise communication style with the ability to compile reports and present to peers and Senior Managers.
5. Ability to solve problems and deliver results through creative solutions and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
6. Ability to build strong relationships with teams and stakeholders.
7. Drive and determination to deliver excellence.
8. The desire to develop knowledge and apply techniques of project management methodologies.
9. Excellent IT skills including MS Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Hybrid working is available for this role on an informal, non-contractual basis. Typically, 3 days onsite per week.
