Able Bridge Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a leading education body in the recruitment of an interim payroll manager. A vacancy has arisen due to a specific project that has been embarked upon which will see some of the current payroll team seconded.
The organisation has expressed a willingness to look at flexible working, full or part-time hours and have a hybrid working pattern (after a qualifying period).
The Responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to support the organisation in the payroll of circa 1000 employees on a monthly basis. In addition, you will be the main point of contact for employee queries and the supervision of a payroll administrator.
On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following:
1. Processing staff salaries on a monthly basis (just under 1,000).
2. Processing legal payroll documentation such as P45, P60s.
3. Ensuring that statutory obligations are correctly calculated such as NIC, Student Loan repayments.
4. Liaising with external bodies regarding pension calculations/queries.
5. Completion of monthly payroll journals and working closely with the finance department to ensure inclusion at month end.
6. Overseeing the distribution of payslips and resolving any queries as they arise.
The Requirements
We are looking for a highly experienced payroll professional who is available immediately or at short notice. The system that our client uses is Midland i-Trent, so prior experience of using this system would be preferred. Our client is seeking someone who will be self-sufficient and who will be able to take the lead on the payroll with minimal supervision. Excellent communication skills in written and verbal form are essential.

Our client will be expecting the successful applicant to be based in the office on a blended working model, the model that we are working with is 40% in the office and 60% working at home; however, this may change and you may be expected to work more often in the office. If, however, applicants wish to work longer in the office, the option is available to them.
