Once in role as Contract Manager, you'll use your expertise to provide contract management and commercial leadership to our nationally delivered operational business services. This role involves the management of some of the highest profile contracts within the organisation, establishing best practice for managing contracts in a delivery environment where flexibility is the main delivery methodology. There is a strong focus on the use of technology underpinning service delivery.

Main duties of the job
To operate as a key member of the Commercial Services team, successfully managing the performance of contracted services with a range of external service providers.
You'll build positive working relationships between the NHSBSA and external service suppliers to ensure all parties meet their obligations in order to deliver the objectives required from the contract.
You'll manage contracts proactively and highlight anticipated future changes, and respond quickly to contractor performance issues and escalate where necessary.
You will manage the governance arrangements to ensure all meetings are scheduled and recorded, making sure a clear actions and decisions log is maintained and by collaborating with colleagues make sure effective contract management is achieved at all times.
Job responsibilities
In this role, you are accountable for:
1. Managing the contract change control process involving liaison with the Contractor, the Business and relevant Senior Commercial Manager as required for approval purposes.
2. Monitoring performance against service levels, recurring contract obligations and KPIs and initiating discussions with the Business and Finance on poor performance.
3. Providing supplier management capability to support Commercial Services Team colleagues and the Business.
4. The assessment of risks to the effective delivery of the contracted services including implementation of appropriate strategies and actions to manage the risks and ensure continuity.
5. Developing and applying contract management policies ensuring that the contractor delivers continuous improvement of the delivery, quality, cost effectiveness and responsiveness of the contracted services.
6. Managing all supplier related incidents and complaints from the Business and escalates issues where necessary.
7. Defining, controlling and managing costs and budgets for the managed contracted service.
8. Working with the Business and Supplier to review service levels and KPIs and implement changes where agreed to ensure value for money.
9. Chairing regular review meetings with the Contractor for assessing past performance and setting future targets.
10. Establishing and maintaining effective communication to both technical and non-technical audiences.
11. Being committed to personal development and actively seeking to enhance the performance of self and others.
12. Maintaining an awareness of developments and risks and issues in NHSBSAs directorates.
13. Analysing, synthesising and presenting knowledge and information about complex subjects to influence key decisions.
14. Where required, being responsible for the effective line management of staff.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent qualification or experience.
* Qualification with World Commerce and Contracting Associated (WCCA) (formerly IACCM).
Personal Qualities, Knowledge and Skills
* Understanding of process and procedures in commissioning and managing contracts.
* Successful implementation of best practice in managing suppliers, resources and performance improvement.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain fundamental concepts including areas with highly complex subject matter.
* Proactive and personally motivated with the ability to motivate others.
* Accurate with attention to detail.
* Flexible, adaptable and able to manage conflicting priorities.
* Open to different ways of working.
* Persuasive and negotiating skills are a requirement.

* Able to travel, which may involve some overnight stays.
Experience
* Experience of working at a management level, contract negotiation and managing stakeholder/supplier relationships.
* Awareness of full range of NHSBSA Business services.
