An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Sarcoma team at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre as a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist in sarcoma as a full-time fixed-term CNS, to cover maternity leave.
The post holder will provide specialist advice and support to patients and their carers throughout their care pathway, as well as providing education and support to staff throughout the trust. The post holder will support the consultant team as well as delivering nurse-led services for patients with sarcoma.
This role is currently based at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in Liverpool.
You should possess advanced clinical skills, be an excellent communicator, leader and educator, and be highly motivated to lead and deliver a service. A background in cancer nursing is ideal, and recent experience in working within the specialty of sarcoma/oncology would be essential.
Main duties of the job
* Leads the development of patient-focused education, including training to self-manage ongoing consequences of treatment.
* Be an active part in attending case conferences, SRGs and MDTs as required.
* Actively participates in multi-professional meetings, acting as patient advocate and representing nursing views.
* Takes personal responsibility for lifelong learning and personal development through clinical supervision, appraisal and maintaining compliance with Trust mandatory training.

Qualifications
* Registered General Nurse
* Degree in healthcare related subject
* Evidence of Masters level learning
* Post-basic qualification in cancer/palliative care or relevant specialist subject.
* Advanced Communications Skills training or prepared to work towards
* Recognised Leadership qualification
* Psychological skills training- Level 2 or above
* MSc Clinical Examination
* MSc Research qualification
Experience
* Relevant post registration experience, at Band 6 or above, in cancer, palliative care or the specialty.
* Experience of teaching
* Leadership and management experience
* Experience of multi-professional working
* Evidence of advanced communications skills
* Ability to lead and influence change
* HNA training and undertaking eHNA
* Experience of writing policies and procedures
* Experience of working as a clinical nurse specialist
* Experience of audit and research
* Understanding of Macmillan Cancer Support and its role across the UK.
Knowledge
* In-depth understanding of evidence-based practice and ability to critically appraise and implement research findings into practice
* Extensive knowledge of national standards and policies within the specialist field
* Evidence of continued professional development
