Job Title: Bereavement Services Officer

Salary: £19.05 PAYE
Term: Temporary currently until February 2025
Are you passionate about providing support to people during difficult times? Our client, a Cemetery Service, is seeking a dynamic and empathetic Bereavement Services Officer to join their team. As a Bereavement Services Officer, you will play a crucial role in delivering a high-quality, customer-focused burial and cremation service. Responsibilities:
1. Undertake cemetery, cremation, and memorial administration tasks, ensuring adherence to processes and procedures.
2. Provide excellent customer service by advising customers on all aspects of cemetery, cremation, and memorial enquiries.
3. Liaise with the public and funeral directors to facilitate arrangements for grave selections, memorial appointments, and the disposal of cremated remains.
4. Utilise cemetery and crematorium software, Microsoft Office packages, and corporate systems for data inputting and record keeping.
5. Assist in the sale of various memorial types and contribute to memorial sales development.
6. Maintain filing systems, compile statistics and performance figures, and complete financial records and returns.
7. Respond effectively to general correspondence and ensure timely and accurate responses to enquiries.
8. Collaborate with a busy office team and demonstrate strong communication skills.
9. Provide administrative support for chapel duties when required.
10. Offer assistance to the public with genealogical enquiries and family history searches.
11. Conduct financial transactions as necessary.
12. Process music and organist requests for services to meet deadlines.
13. Support all matters related to memorial infringements, regulation enforcement, and memorial safety.
Experience:
1. Experience in administrative roles, preferably within a similar service-oriented environment.
2. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
3. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes and procedures.
4. Proficiency in using cemetery and crematorium software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and other corporate systems.
5. Ability to work well in a team and handle a busy workload.
6. Experience in a similar role advantageous.
