Senior Residential Care Practitioner
Location: Derby
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: Full-time – 56.5 hours per week inclusive of sleep-ins (3-week rolling rota)
Salary: £37,158.58 per annum (subject to increase upon successful probation)
Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence essential
Overview
Our client, a well-established provider of therapeutic care for children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Residential Care Practitioner to join their specialist children’s home in Derby.
Key Responsibilities
• Safeguard young people through risk management and therapeutic care.
• Provide nurturing care based on therapeutic parenting principles.
• Support children in daily routines including school, appointments, and activities.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive home environment.
• Lead daily operations and chore rotas; support junior staff and co-workers.
• Act as key worker for young people, managing and reviewing care plans.
• Complete necessary records and reports within set timescales.
• Supervise Residential Childcare Practitioners regularly, adhering to company protocols.
• Comply with Ofsted and Children’s Homes Regulations (England).
• Ensure high standards of care and support within the home.
Requirements
• Level 4 Diploma in Children, Young People and Families Practitioner (Residential) or working towards.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a childcare or youth setting with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to supervise and support a team.
• Current, clean UK driving licence.
• Enhanced DBS and Right to Work in the UK.
• Understanding of the challenges faced in residential care settings.
