Contract: Temporary, until Easter half term (with potential for extension)
Hours: Term-time only, Monday to Friday
Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Blackburn, supporting a Year 4 pupil with speech and language needs. The role involves working closely with the pupil to help improve communication skills, boost confidence, and foster a positive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 support, focusing on speech and language development
2. Implement tailored strategies and activities to improve the pupil's communication skills
3. Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCo to monitor progress and adapt support as needed
4. Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging learning space for the pupil
5. Keep accurate records of the pupil’s development and communicate effectively with staff and parents
Requirements:
1. Previous experience working with children in a primary school setting, ideally in a 1:1 or support role
2. Knowledge or experience in speech and language support is highly desirable
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
4. A proactive and patient approach to working with children with additional needs
5. A relevant qualification, such as a Teaching Assistant Level 2 or higher, is beneficial
