Clinical Educator - Haematology and Oncology

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Educator in Haematology and Oncology.
Band 6 - Fixed Term/Secondment for 23 months.
Main duties of the job
* Undertake formal and informal training sessions to nursing staff in Haematology and Oncology.
* Work clinically with staff and in Haematology and Oncology and support them in achieving and maintaining competencies within the skillset of SACT administration, CVAD care, and the care of Oncology and Haematology patients.
* Maintain accurate records of staff training.
* Work closely with management to review and update training pathways for staff working in the Sandra Chapman Centre.
Job responsibilities
* Individuals will be required to have a good understanding of Haematology and Oncology and practice directly relating to patient care, supporting students and mentors to develop clinical learning opportunities.
* Undertake appropriate planned practice education and assist in developing further training and development plans for Haematology and Oncology.
* Promote and support nursing practices based on research.
* Act as a mentor to students and support mentors on a regular basis within Haematology and Oncology in different clinical areas across the divisions.
* Work clinically with nursing staff and students in practice and support with specific learning outcomes.
* Be up-to-date with course curriculum and understand the assessment process for students.
* Support mentors on the ward and have protected time to support students, whilst ensuring that mentorship and education policies are adhered to.
* Assist with and carry out audits.
* Involved with the review, development, and implementation of appropriately related policies.
* Clinically work with students particularly if specific learning needs are identified.
* Feed into the strategic educational requirements that are required across the Trust.
* Embrace new local and national initiatives that may arise.
* Communicate educational and practice information with the organization.
* Provide support and pastoral care for mentors/educators.
* Be responsible for the development of training programmes and pathways in line with national and local educational policy.

Qualifications
* NMC
* SACT Competent - UKONS PASSPORT
* SACT Competent - Evidence of completion of external training
* Attendance at preceptorship training
* Enhanced communication training
Knowledge
* Experience and competency in SACT ADMINISTRATION, CVAD CARE, CANNULATION
* Evidence of up-to-date experience in Haematology and Oncology
* Attention to detail, knowledge of policy formation
* Evidence of management skills
