Cardiac Surgery Pre-Op and Aortic Clinical Specialist Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to drive forward the Aortic Aneurism Service, overseeing patients on the Aortic pathway and ensuring patients are monitored. The post holder will be expected to assess, plan and implement patient care, provide advice and guidance to the multidisciplinary team, and ensure all records and documentation are completed and relevant. The role involves managing staff, rotas, appraisals, recruitment and selection, resource control, and budgetary management for the area. This role will require enhanced communication skills to deal with the broad range of issues involved in the day-to-day management of the service.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will be expected to assess, plan and implement patient care, driving forward the Aortic Aneurism service, reviewing and writing protocols. Provide advice and guidance to the multidisciplinary team and ensure all records and documentation are completed and relevant. The role involves managing staff, rotas, appraisals, recruitment and selection, resource control, and budgetary management for the area. This role involves the overall responsibility for the Aortic Aneurysm and cardiac pre-operative service and therefore will require enhanced communication skills in order to deal with the broad range of issues involved in the day-to-day management of the service.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration. Teaching qualification or experience.
Experience
* Minimum 3 years at band 6 experience within cardiac/cardiac surgery
* Experience in management and MDT working
* Experience conducting staff appraisals
* Participation in clinical audit/research
Knowledge/Leadership
* Awareness of local and National issues in relation to cardiac surgery
* Motivation and problem-solving.
