Public Health Scotland launched 1st April 2020 as a national health board, employing around 1200 people, and with an annual budget of around £101 million. The Post: The role of the Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate is to protect the people of Scotland from infectious and environmental hazards; enable high-quality clinical and public health knowledge, research and innovation; and change clinical and public health practice by using audits at a national and local level. The Candidate: The Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and dynamic Healthcare Scientist Advanced.The post-holder will work closely with clinical, scientific, and analytical staff as part of the Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate to contribute to PHS intelligence surveillance, research and development opportunities. They will work with a range of policy makers and public health/health protection service providers and stakeholders across all sectors in Scotland and beyond.The current priorities for the post are respiratory surveillance, specifically enhanced surveillance of a range of respiratory pathogens through programmes such as Community Acute Respiratory Infections (CARI). The post holder will be expected to lead a small team of Healthcare Scientists and identify opportunities for innovative use and analyses of a wide range of surveillance data. Location and Working Pattern: The post is full time permanent - 37 hours per week Monday Friday and will be based in eitherGlasgow or Edinburgh. PHS is currently hybrid working; therefore, you will be expected to spend time in both PHS offices as well as the option to work at home. Please note that PHS will be relocating from Central Quay, Glasgow toBothwell Street, Glasgowby the end of 2024. There will be an expectation to travel to local areas for some meetings and events.
