The Role
Department: Finance Location: Guildford Role: Senior Legal Cashier Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9.00 - 5.30pm Hybrid Working: 2 days in the office, 3 days from home
A busy role undertaking the provision of client accounting and legal cashiering services to multiple internal stakeholders. The service provided must be of a high professional standard and will involve liaising with people at all levels across the firm. This Senior role will be supporting the Team Leader with the Legal Cashier team in delegating tasks and assisting with conflicts and queries.
Key Responsibilities
* Process all domestic/overseas payment of funds from both client and office accounts.
* Client bank reconciliations to the agreed timetable.
* Process appropriate ledger entries for all client and office funds receipted direct into the firm bank accounts.
* Monitor and action all transfers between client and office account in accordance with SAR/internal policies.
* Money Market/Treasury and FX transactions.
* Provide a professional, friendly and efficient service to all clients (internal & external) by actioning their enquiries promptly whilst ensuring that appropriate client service standards are maintained.
* Review and maintain balances held on client accounts to include regular meetings with partners/casehandlers in Guildford and London.
* Deal with unreconciled item reports, general ledgers and suspense accounting.
* Taking credit card payments over the phone.
* Other ad-hoc duties as necessary.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Client Accounting experience is required.
* MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
* Knowledge of solicitors' accounting practices is preferred.
* Familiarity with decision and authorisation structures of professional services firms to understand and ensure needs of fee-earners and business services departments are met and appropriate controls implemented with effective authorisation.
* Knowledge and understanding of the changing environment in which law firms and clients operate.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Willingness to communicate with senior people internally and externally.
* Possess strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise key tasks.
* Working knowledge of Elite 3E advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.
* Working knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.
