Contract Type: Fixed contract, with term time option. Reports to: Service Manager and senior management team Salary Band: Unqualified £17 to 20 per hour Qualified £25 to £40 per hour (including planning time) What are we looking for? Qualifications & Experience: Qualified to CET, AET and DE (preferred) (or working towards a teaching qualification) or other relevant qualification in your specialised subject. SEN or health and social care qualifications (essential) GCSE (or equivalent L2 Functional skills) in English and maths at grade C/4 or above (Essential) Experienced working with those who present with learning disabilities and / or autism (Essential) Confident with your delivery (Essential) As an SEN personal and social development/life skills tutor, you will play a vital role in shaping the HF Mencap experience and the lives of our users. Your thoughtful planning and engaging teaching activities will ensure that each student receives a high-quality education tailored to their needs. By regularly reviewing and assessing their progress, you will guide them to success and help build their confidence and personal skills. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of HF Mencap clients through practical lessons, excursions, visits, and trips designed to enhance their learning experience and prepare them for future opportunities. Main Tasks & Responsibilities Teaching, Learning and assessment Plan, prepare, and teach lessons on personal, social, and developmental skills, including life skills. Create engaging schemes of work that demonstrate sequencing of learning and progression. Create engaging lessons that are full of learning and development. Differentiate lesson plans and resources based on individual needs, as outlined in EHCP or support plan documents or through observations. Track the progress of our service users using appropriate and provided tracking systems. Provide and deliver engaging sessions meeting the individual needs of all learners. Plan and develop SMART-appropriate learning plans for individuals alongside monitoring their EHCP or support plan outcomes. Monitor and assess learner progress, ensuring timely achievements throughout the year. Use current technology to enhance teaching and learning. Conduct 1:1 progress review of qualifications and personal skills. Manage any behaviour issues that arise in line with HF Mencap policies, with support from the Service Manager and supervisors. Implement HF Mencap’s inclusion and equal opportunity policies. To cover other subject areas as appropriate if required Organise and implement trips and events for learning (with the support of support workers). Provide appropriate encouragement, guidance, and support to learners to help them progress. Participate in events as required.
