Our Manchester Longsight depot is a well-established facility that undertakes maintenance for the Train Operators Avanti and Cross Country, including our iconic Pendolino Class 390 tilting trains. Our Apprenticeships combine academic college studies with real-life work-based experience across our organisation. You will have the opportunity to build and gather evidence of your competence whilst working towards a formal qualification. Your day-to-day activities will involve learning about and supporting operational activities around maintaining trains, focusing on our modern fleet of Class 390 & Voyager rolling stock. You will be working as part of a multifunctional team responsible for diagnosing and repairing faults along with undertaking daily service examinations and maintenance tasks. You will undertake a planned rotation within appropriate departments and possibly at other depots in order to gain the skills and competence to complete the Standard requirements. Attendance outside of standard work patterns should be expected. You will also undertake internal training not covered by the Standard.
