You will support the Head of Product and Application Development in ensuring that all packages of work owned by the technical department meet their cost, quality and time objectives, and that we only ever provide products that work, advice that can be trusted, and promises we keep.
About the Role
Project, programme and resource management of:
1. Product/process research, development and improvement projects from feasibility through to launch.
2. Permanent engineering changes to maintain efficient manufacture of existing product range.
3. Support to production departments to quickly analyse and resolve issues with product manufacture, implementing temporary alternative instructions/arrangements where required.
4. Technical product support to internal and external customers.
5. Design and manufacture of tooling to produce new variants of existing products.
6. Provision of training to colleagues and customers.
Provide and/or support the planning and monitoring of all packages of work within the department, including managing resources to support the full programme of work. Management of people within the technical department and across the business not under your direct report, gaining commitment from them and holding them to account for delivering on those commitments. Clear and concise communication to all stakeholders including early escalation of issues. Proactive and forward-thinking identification of issues, and rapid problem solving to overcome or mitigate them. Preparation of reports and presentations for meetings at all levels within the business, and chairing of project/programme meetings. Adherence to company systems and procedures in delivery of all the above including proactively identifying, justifying and implementing improvements to them.

* Project management qualification and/or substantial relevant work experience.
* Management of a large number of simultaneous projects and tasks balancing competing priorities.
* Project management tools and techniques including network diagrams and Gantt charts.
* Physical product design/development/engineering/launch activities in a manufacturing environment.
* A confident, energetic, influential and driven personality.
* Excellent time management.
* Excellent communication and presenting skills.
* Commercially aware and highly numerate.
* Practically minded with a hands-on approach.
* Programme management.
* IT and business process digitisation.
* Development of departmental processes to ISO 9001 standards.
* Construction products and/or construction industry in general.
* Advanced Excel.
