Jamie Sims, company director, created the business following working in the award-winning gardens at the Great Fosters Hotel for 10 years. The Company has seen tremendous growth over the last few years and is looking to expand its team and offers excellent growth opportunities.
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Gardener to join our company and manage a sub-team of gardeners while overseeing a portfolio of clients. As a Gardener, you will be responsible for maintaining and caring for various landscapes and gardens. This is a hands-on role that requires knowledge of landscape maintenance, gardening techniques, and the ability to use both hand and power tools. As a team leader, you will be expected to demonstrate time management skills, plant knowledge, and general management skills of staff. While holding a team leader role, you will still be expected to work alongside the team.
Duties
1. Perform regular maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, weeding, and edging lawns and garden beds
2. Prune trees, shrubs, and hedges to maintain their shape and promote healthy growth
3. Plant flowers, trees, and other plants according to landscape plans
4. Irrigate plants as needed to ensure proper hydration
5. Apply fertilizers and pesticides to control pests and enhance plant growth
6. Clean and maintain garden tools and equipment
7. Remove debris and maintain cleanliness of garden areas
8. Assist with the design and implementation of new landscaping projects
Experience
1. Proven experience in landscape maintenance and gardening
2. Knowledge of different plant species, their care requirements, and growth patterns
3. Proficiency in using hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruners, etc.
4. Familiarity with power tools such as lawn mowers, trimmers, etc.
5. Understanding of groundskeeping principles and techniques
6. Ability to work independently or as part of a team
7. Ability to lead a team
8. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
