We currently have a rare and exciting opportunity arise within our Health, Safety and Environment team and are looking for a passionate professional to support us in providing competent health, safety, and environmental advice. You will be ensuring all colleagues are trained, instructed, informed, and continually developed in all relevant aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental Regulatory Compliance.
This is a varied role supporting workplace health, safety and environmental inspections. You will be home based and will also work closely with our teams travelling around the Tame Locality, which incorporates the Birmingham and wider Midlands area.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
* Undertaking operational workplace safety, health and environmental inspections, recording findings, identifying trends and creating action plans.
* Working closely with our teams by providing advice and guidance to the Trades Workforce, Managers and Lead Engineers on matters of Health and Safety and Environmental compliance.
* Producing, developing, and delivering Toolbox Talks relevant to business need and departmental requirements.
* Completing accident, near miss and dangerous occurrences investigations where required; making recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
* Delivering specialist Health and Safety and Environment training for safety critical areas including Non-Licensed Asbestos Removal, DSEAR & Working in Confined Spaces and Biohazards.
* Undertaking Monitoring, Inspection and Audit programmes to ensure all workplace and site operations meet the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Management of Health, and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, associated regulations and standards.
Some of the things we are looking for:
* Excellent communication and customer care skills with the ability to influence and engage a wide range of stakeholders.
* Good time management skills and able to work alone with a high level of autonomy.
* NEBOSH Certification/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
* NEBOSH Certification in construction Health and Safety or near equivalent (SMSTS).
* Proven track record in managing Health Safety and Environmental compliance with a large diverse Trades Workforce in a construction or maintenance related business.
* Experience in the design and delivery of Health and Safety Compliance Training to a diverse Trade Operations Workforce.
* Experience of interpretation of complex lengthy legislation and implementation into streamlined instructions, Safe Systems of Work, and documented Risk Assessments for use by the Trades Workforce.
* Proven ability to provide managers and colleagues with an on-site assessment and advisory service; including formal risk assessments, accident and incident investigations and litigation defence.
