We want you to be a driving force behind the Council’s performance by ensuring we get optimal use of our property portfolio and achieve key financial targets. By growing third-party income from external partners and stakeholders, you can generate the resources for greater impact. A key influencer you will be tasked with developing the Council’s Strategic Asset Management Plan, engaging with key stakeholders understanding current and future demands and driving a corporate landlord approach across the organisation.
The role
We want you to lead, develop and deliver a first-class, Council-wide asset management service which can compete in the open market for the supply of property-related services. To succeed in the role, you will:
* Develop and deliver Business Plans which meet the needs of the Council and third-party customers.
* Prepare and implement the Council’s Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) being an ambassador across the Council to drive efficiencies.
* Lead, motivate and develop the strategic asset management team creating a performance-driven culture alongside high standards of financial management.
* Implement high-quality benchmarking to track our performance against relevant comparators.
* Develop, and evaluate, solutions in response to new needs or changes in service delivery.
* Leverage property intelligence to ensure the council is making optimal use of a fit for purpose operational estate helping future proof our property.
* Act as the Customer Relationship Manager for wider Council services in terms of property
* Advise senior Council Members and Directors on the property implications of local policy decisions and national policy development.
About you
* RICS qualified or equivalent, with relevant experience as a senior level property surveyor.
* Key influencer in leading and managing a successful asset management, or similar, property/estates service.
* Able to motivate, engage and develop people to deliver shared outcomes.
* Excellent communicator skills at all levels, both internally and with our external customers and contractors.
* Strategic thinker when identifying and delivering solutions and outcomes.
* An effective stakeholder manager and collaborator with colleagues and external partners.
* Optimistic and ambitious for Salford, its people and the transformation of public services.

Qualifications
You will be expected to be technically qualified to degree level and be professionally qualified from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors or equivalent with an extensive practical application of knowledge post professional qualification.
