Our Building Services team is looking for a Day Fabric Craftsperson to join the team on one of our projects in London. The purpose of the role will be to carry out fabric (including fixtures and fittings), maintenance reactive tasks and small works to a high standard. To ensure the fabric of the buildings provides a safe environment for patients, the public, and staff and to maintain contractual compliance.
You’ll:
1. Support the Estates Management in the provision of a 24hr maintenance Service within the RLH, which will include general painting, minor plastering, and other fabric tasks to a high standard.
2. Carry out general decoration including:
* Prepare all existing surfaces for decoration.
* Carry out jointing to stud walling, minor plastering works required, and apply all types of paints and varnishes to a variety of surfaces.
* Install wall protection materials.
* Install and apply line marking to external and internal areas.
* Replace and install silicon/mastic joints.
1. Assist other members of the fabric team with:
* Snow clearance sweeps and gritting.
* Repairs to ironmongery, blinds, door furniture, and glazing.
* Erecting and dismantling tower scaffolding after training.
1. Carry out repairs to all types of floor finishes, including vinyl sheet and tiles, carpet, and ceramic tiles, as well as repairs to brickwork, plaster, and tiles (floor).
2. Work with fine tools and equipment in difficult areas and with associated building trades as required.
3. Work safely with heavy equipment, work at heights, and within confined spaces.
4. Undertake any other reasonable tasks and duties relevant to the post and grade as may be determined by the Director of Estates & Facilities.
Minimum Requirements:
* A recognised fabric-specific apprenticeship with a minimum of City & Guilds Craft certificate or equivalent.
* Minimum of 2 years relevant trade experience.
* Knowledge of a range of procedures for building and repair.
* Good knowledge of H&S Legislation.
* Experience of building maintenance fabric.
* Experience of working in a hospital environment.
* Experience of lone working.
* Knowledge of hospital specifics (HTM’s).
* Knowledge of Health Building Notifications (HBN).
