We are recruiting for a Tram Systems Support Engineer, to join the team assisting the rolling stock team with engineering support on safety, reliability and maintenance issues.
The role will offer you lots of variety and no day will be the same. You will play a key role in identifying root cause analysis on maintenance issues that occur on our rolling stock, proactively problem solving and implementing solutions to achieve as a team rolling stock reliability.
Know your data and analyse asset performance, develop ways of reporting to monitor performance and reliability at system level.

Key accountabilities will include:
* Investigate, identify root cause and determine sound engineering solutions for issues which are detrimental to the reliability and performance of Metrolink’s rolling stock
* Assist in improving whole life cycle costs of Metrolink rolling stock through identifying and implementing maintenance improvements
* Be involved in investigations into safety related incidents either within the Rolling Stock department or within the wider KAM business
* Build and maintain effective professional working relationships to facilitate delivery of business plan activities
* Know your data, its key accuracy and correctness of data to be recorded in the asset management system
* Develop reports to monitor performance and reliability at a system level
* Advocate of innovative thinking when solving problems
* Drive maintenance efficiency and asset performance improvement.
* Keep abreast of Industry best practice and deliver appropriate improvement initiatives for KAM.
* Champion health, safety and what good looks like embedding “Just Culture” in all ways of working.
* Participate in STEM related activities to inspire future engineers
What you’ll bring:
* Hold a degree level qualification or suitable experience in at least one of the following engineering disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical Electronic, Electro – Mechanical, Railway Engineering – Rolling Stock
* A member, or working towards membership, of a recognised engineering institute.
* Knowledge of FMECA, Fault & Event Trees, Root Cause Analysis
* Experience of working on technical projects with a commercial awareness, to deliver cost optimal solutions
* Experience of working in rail/light rail would be advantageous
* Ability to analyse performance data
* Innovative thinker, be able to make decisions and have a pragmatic and practical approach to problem solving

* Able to multitask, co-ordinate stakeholders effectively and achieve targets within given deadlines.
