Our well established manufacturing client require an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their team. This role is likely to last at least 6 months to cover long term sickness but may lead to a long term opportunity.
Working within a pool of fitters, you will be responsible for the assembly and testing of OEM products while also doing service work in the factory overhauling marine equipment.
Duties will include:
Assembly and testing of stabilisers/steering gear, shaft lines, gearboxes together with other marine equipment according to drawing, specifications and work instructions.
A requirement to deburr, inspect and in some instances prime paint parts prior to assembly.
Working with Hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Working with detailed components with tight tolerances.
Assisting stores personnel with the packing of finished product according to specification.
Assisting with the loading and unloading of finished parts onto transport.
As required, support Service Department in the factory.
Carry out any other tasks as delegated by Team Leader / Manager within your skill set.
Work with the leadership team to manage HSE and drive continuous improvement.
To be suitable for this challening role you will ideally have the following skills and experience:
Minimum 5 years working experience (manufacturing preferred)
Recognised apprenticeship and or qualification in mechanical fitting (C&G, NVQ, HNC etc)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.(mechanical & Hydraulic)
Experience of working on mechanical assemblies.
Experience of torqueing and torque equipment.
Experience of working with hydraulics and hydraulic equipment.
Forklift License
Crane and Slinging Certification
Self-Starter, highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervisionThis job is full time 37.5 hours week Monday - Friday ( Early finish on a Friday )
Hourly rate - £20 ph (Limited, CIS or PAYE)
