An opportunity exists in Perthshire, Scotland, for an experienced Engineering Geologist with, amongst others, extensive hydro tunnel experience. This role is critical for ensuring safety during rehabilitation/upgrading of a lined/unlined tunnel system. Key responsibilities will include – Initially conduct visual assessments and monitoring of designated safety areas within the tunnels. Ensure that personnel are not at risk while working under identified areas of concern. Monitor tunnel conditions as permanent repairs (drilling, bolting, spraying) progress. Report findings directly to the on-site Management Team. Provide sensible recommendations for consideration by external designers if further remediation is required (or to adjust existing plans). Complete checklists and records of tunnel conditions as required. The initial phase would require a shift pattern of 12 days on and 2 days off, 10-hour shifts with the first Monday and last Friday of each 12-day rotation allocated for travel. After initial weeks, role may transition to part-time as tunnel safety is confirmed Requirements for this opportunity include – Bachelor’s degree in Geology/Engineering Geology/Geotechnical Engineering OR Civil Engineering focussing on Geotechnical Engineering Extensive experience in tunnelling geology with sound engineering judgment Proven written and verbal communications skills Previous similar experience within the UK Valid confined space accreditation CSCS, SMSTS and first aid preferred This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a unique infrastructure project within a challenging but rewarding geological environment.
