Job Title: Head of Procurement, Strategic Supplier Management
Location: Warton. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role. Regular travel to Edinburgh required.
Salary: £71,200 + depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
You’ll work with the Procurement Director (Sensors and Support Solutions) managing a team of procurement executives, integrating with the key stakeholders across the business and working with our strategic partner to further enhance relationships and outcomes in the delivery of radar programmes including capability, delivery performance, new business and the long-term evolution of the future radar.
You will be accountable for:
1. Developing and maintaining a strong relationship with a strategic partner for the delivery and management of key programmes, delivering operational excellence (schedule, quality, cost & Relationship).
2. Manage key campaigns and bids, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
3. Negotiating terms and conditions with clear and concise milestone criteria for achievement, ensuring contracts are comprehensive and protect the interests of the company and achieve positive outcome.
4. Develop effective Internal relationships within BAE Systems to influence approach within our strategic partner, working as part of a wider collaborative integrated team.
5. Facilitate clear communication between partners and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution, serve as a liaison to resolve conflicts and address issues promptly.
6. Understand the team resourcing strategy, ensuring the team are suitably qualified and experienced to undertake the package of activities agreed, identifying interventions as applicable and clearly communicate this to the team and wider stakeholder community.
7. Create an environment for high performing teams and individuals through robust PDR objectives, providing ongoing performance feedback and development planning and creating a coaching culture.
8. You will look to inspire and develop a diverse workforce to drive success through mentoring and sponsorship of individuals across the enterprise.
9. You will be accountable for ensuring the team operates within the governance framework and assurance activities are undertaken.
Your skills and experiences:
1. Hold MCIPS or equivalent professional institute and/or Qualified to Degree standard or equivalent.
2. Excellent strategic supplier and relationship management experience, developing lasting and collaborative environment to breed collaboration and performance.
3. Ability to develop and lead a high performing team, enabling a positive working culture that embraces diversity of thought.
4. Knowledge and Experience of procurement practices within a strategic context, focusing on business outcomes which support the corporate strategy.
5. Knowledge of the defence commercial environment and market would be preferable.

The Procurement team:
An Exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic procurement team, part of a wider Radar integrated team supporting the development of the future of Typhoon Radars. The team collaborates with our largest supply chain partner in the delivery of key capabilities to support our customers both across Europe and internationally, supporting strategic campaigns and growth on of the typhoon platform, and managing the delivery of product and capability.
A strategic team, who collaborate across the supply chain to enhance our delivery to our key customers and ensuring the continued development and relevance of the typhoon platform.
